Our Social Get-togethers
Why our social get-togethers matter
Our social get-togethers are about much more than simply meeting for a coffee or enjoying an afternoon out. They give older people the opportunity to meet others, make new friends, enjoy shared experiences and feel part of their local community.
For some people, coming along to a social event may be the first step towards feeling less alone. Having somewhere friendly and welcoming to go, where you can chat, laugh and spend time with others, can make a real difference to someone’s day.
Our get-togethers are also shaped by what our community tells us they want. From coffee mornings and social cafés to themed events, music, dancing, games and outings, we create opportunities for people to connect in ways that feel enjoyable and comfortable for them.
We know that friendships and social connections can have a positive impact on confidence, mood and overall wellbeing. That is why creating opportunities to come together is such an important part of what we do at Age UK Croydon.
Whether you come along on your own or with a friend, everyone is welcome. There’s always someone to talk to, something to enjoy and the opportunity to make a new connection.
