About Age Cymru West Glamorgan

We are a local charity providing a range of services to our clients, families and carers across the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend areas promoting wellbeing, helping people to age well and live independently. 

Role Description:   

To support and coordinate the publication of the new Age Cymru West Glamorgan Newsletter. We need enthusiastic, compassionate people with great interpersonal skills who are interested in expanding their communication skills and building their journalistic portfolio. Using our Cwmdu office as a base, you will seek out and coordinate news and information relating to older people in the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend areas. You will be part of a vibrant team of volunteers producing a publication which keeps our community connected and informed about events and activities and aims to enhance the well-being of older people.  

Hours: Minimum 4 hours per week – Working to a quarterly deadline. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 – 16:30
Location: Cwmdu, Swansea

What will you do?

  • Coordinate articles on a chosen theme
  • Contact and interview relevant contributors
  • Find photos and illustrations to visually enhance each page.
  • Keep Core Team updated with progress.

  • An understanding of Information Services and the charity sector.

  • A drive to share essential information.
  • Empathy, patience, and a desire to make a difference.
  • Ability to communicate well with a diverse range of people.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Confidence using a computer.

 Please note this is a voluntary position. Age Cymru West Glamorgan will reimburse volunteers for out of pocket travel costs including public transport costs.
