Coach Trips
We’re so excited to announce the launch the very first of our new Coach Trips — a brand-new way for adults aged 50+ across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend to enjoy relaxed, fun, and sociable days out together.
Just a few weeks ago, we launched a small expression of interest form to see who might be interested in joining us. We were absolutely blown away by the response — over 200 people signed up in just four days! That incredible level of interest has shown us just how much demand there is for these kinds of trips — and we’re determined to build Coach Trips into a lasting, thriving initiative.
These relaxing and social days out are a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy beautiful Welsh destinations and make special memories. Whether you're into history, gardens, or just fancy a change of scenery, there's something for everyone.
Potential future destinations include:
St Fagans National Museum of History – explore Wales' fascinating past
The National Botanic Garden of Wales – stroll through stunning gardens and glasshouses
St David’s – discover Britain’s smallest city with big charm
The Royal Welsh Winter Fair – food, crafts, entertainment and festive cheer
Who can join?
These trips are designed for adults aged 50+ and their carers, in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, particularly those who may not often get the chance to travel or enjoy days out. We'll aim to make everything stress-free and enjoyable, costing less than £20 per day trip.
Why is this so cheap? What is the catch?
There’s no catch — just a great day out made possible by some generous people.
This trip is subsidised by Omaze, who share our belief that everyone should have the chance to enjoy experiences like this, no matter their circumstances.
Coach Trips are about enjoyment, not eligibility. They’re open to all adults aged 50+ who want to explore somewhere new, connect (or not!), and just have a great time.
We know that some people could easily afford the full ticket price, but might feel more comfortable joining something relaxed, welcoming and well-organised — and others might be finding even £10 a bit of a stretch right now.
So, we've kept the price low and simple, and we’re asking those who can, to donate what they’re able — to help keep these trips going and open to everyone. The full cost of our first trip is £39.90 per person, but we’re only charging £10 to make it as affordable and accessible as possible.
I love this idea and I want to donate. How can I?
Thank you so much! Your generosity helps us keep Coach Trips open to everyone — and we really appreciate it.
We’re not making a big deal about donations on the day — this isn’t about who gives what. We want everyone to feel welcome, included, and free to enjoy the trip without pressure.
If you'd like to donate:
-
You can do so online before or after the event — we know some people like to see what we’re about first!
-
There will be a quiet donation bucket available as you leave the coach — no announcements, no fuss.
-
Or you’re very welcome to call us on 01792 648866 if you prefer to give over the phone.
Every donation, big or small, helps us keep these relaxed, joyful days out going strong for everyone. to help us run more trips like this. You can donate when booking online, after the trip, or quietly on the day at our donation bucket near the coach exit — no pressure, just heartfelt thanks.
Can my business or organisation sponsor a trip?
Your support will enable us to offer safe, enjoyable, and affordable days out for those who may otherwise face isolation or limited mobility.
In return, we’ll proudly acknowledge your business as a community sponsor across our promotional materials, social media, and on the day of the trip itself. It’s a wonderful way to give back locally, show your community spirit, and be part of something truly meaningful.
Email enquiries@agecymruwestglamorgan.org.uk to get involved.
Please Be Kind
We know the demand is high — and we love that you're excited. We’re also still learning, and we’re trying this split-ticket approach (online and phone) as a way to make sure no one is digitally excluded. But if you miss out on this first trip, please don't shout at us (or your phone). We're doing our best with a small but mighty team, and we promise more trips are coming soon!
Honestly, we're a little worried we’ll be booked up very quickly — and we really don’t want anyone to feel disappointed. We’re a small team, and this initiative is made possible by our incredible volunteers, who are working hard behind the scenes to help us build something truly special.
