A wonderfully diverse team of volunteers is needed to be human 'Books' available to borrow for a chat to change perceptions, break down stereotypes and help people to find that we have more in common with each other. The Human Library will be coming to the University of Derby and the Buxton campus this November, giving opportunities for lots of people to be involved!

Human Library Bookspeople in library

In a Human Library the Books are people and reading is a conversation.
Human Book titles may include, for example, Refugee, Deaf, Transgender, Muslim, Wheelchair User, Eastern European, Carer, Bisexual, Pensioner, Pagan, Young Black Man, Goth, Hindu, Gender Fluid, Romani Gypsy, Bipolar, Sikh, Ex-Offender, Feminist, On Benefits, Punk, Mental Health Patient, etc - and by borrowing a human Book, the Readers get to know someone 'beyond the label' and media headlines.
