No matter what your age, being loved and cared for is important to all of us. At Age UK Derby & Derbyshire, we believe no one should have no one. Yet for 60,000 older people in the Midlands loneliness is a daily reality.
Last year, Age UK's campaign highlighted "No One Should Have No One at Christmas". We all need to remember that no one should be without anyone all year around.
To provide services reaching out to the most vulnerable; combating isolation and loneliness requires the communities within Derby and Derbyshire’s support, enthusiasm and backing. Your support and backing for Age UK’s campaign last Christmas has already meant that a lot of people will be happier than they might have had because of YOUR time, effort and donations.
This year, we would like to continue to build on what we’ve all done together in our campaign to combat loneliness and social isolation throughout 2016. For more information, please visit www.ageuk.org.uk/derbyandderbyshire/no-one for businesses, organisations and the general public to find out how they might again be able to help us or pledge their support to helping provide the services we offer.

Talking to no one
In the UK, 1 million older people go a month or more without seeing or speaking to a friend, family member or neighbour.
We need to change that. We need to make sure help is available for all older people who find their lives adversely affected by loneliness or illness or poverty, whatever the time of year.
Here in Derby & Derbyshire we’re working as hard as we can all year round to help older people face the different challenges that growing older brings, and with your help we can work to make sure no one in later life need be alone or isolated.
Whether it’s through our Memory Lane groups, befriending services, day centres, our information and advice around getting the financial support people need to make the most of their later years or just being somewhere to turn when things get too tough to cope with on your own, Age UK Derby & Derbyshire provides crucial companionship, advice and support to thousands of people every year.
