Age UK Devon - Enabling and Home Support Service

This service offers support and practical help to older people, including those with dementia, to help maintain their independence at home.
 
 

Axminster Golden Oldies,

Sing-alongs to the popular memory-evoking hits of the 50s onwards .... SONGS and SMILES lie at the heart of all we do. Those attending the sessions are older people living in community housing, adults with learning difficulties and people living with dementia – everyone is welcome at a Goldies session.
Held on the first Thursday of each month from 2.00pm -3.00pm at Axminster Guildhall
 
 
 

Memory Café – Pippins Centre

A friendly, relaxed social group for people with memory problems and their families and friends.

It takes place at the Pippins Centre every second Monday of the month between 2.00 and 4.00pm.

The Community Matron for Dementia

In Axminster, Shiobhan Pickering is the Community Matron for Dementia. She and her team are dedicated to developing dementia-friendly practices and ensuring residents receive compassionate and expert support.

The Ness Care Group

Providing specialist, clinically led support for people experiencing memory changes and dementia, with a focus on early and middle stages.
Support includes small group Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, which is recommended by the NHS, alongside advice, coaching and guidance for individuals and families, professional training, and online support across Devon and beyond. CST is a structured, evidence based approach that supports thinking, communication and everyday confidence, delivered by trained facilitators with specialist knowledge of dementia and cognitive health.

The Filo Project

The Filo project provides day care for older people in small group settings in hosts own homes. It provides homely environments, and highly individualised support. They offer support across Devon.

Transport is included in our service which allows us to reach even those most rurally located.
