Admiral Nurse Service
Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through the Admiral Nurse Service.
“When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving the one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions people need. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline–it helps everyone in the family to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear”

They have an online service where you can book an online ‘virtual clinic’ appointment on the phone or on video call with a dementia specialist nurse.
Thet also have an online course for people affected by dementia called ‘Dementia: What Next’. Hosted by our dementia specialist Admiral Nurses, the sessions will provide you with expert information and advice on topics we are frequently asked about, helping you navigate the future with more confidence.

Alzheimer’s Society
The Alzheimer’s Society offers a wide range of services, including information, advice, and practical support for people living with dementia, their families, and carers. The Society runs local support groups, helplines, and online forums, providing emotional and social support.
Carers UK
Carers UK offers advice, information, and guidance on carers’ rights, financial support, and practical issues. Care Direct
Care Direct is Devon County Council’s primary contact service for adult social care, offering information, advice, and support to help adults live independently and safely. It assists older people, individuals with disabilities, and their carers by providing guidance on daily living, mobility aids, personal care, housing options, and safeguarding concerns. Care Direct also facilitates access to social care assessments and services such as direct payments and respite care. The service operates via phone and email, connecting people to local resources and support networks
Citizens Advice

The Carers Trust Network
The networks works through 140 local groups across the UK. It offers practical assistance, emotional support, and access to vital services. Dementia Adventure:
Dementia Adventure helps people living with dementia enjoy more active and fulfilled lives by connecting with nature. They offer fully supported small-group holidays and tailored breaks, enabling individuals and their carers to relax and explore the outdoors together without the stress of planning. The charity also provides free online training for family and friends, to help them think differently about accessing nature.
Devon Carers
Devon Carers is a free support service for unpaid carers across most of Devon (excluding Plymouth and Torbay), delivered by the charity Westbank .Services include a helpline, carer assessments, emergency planning, hospital support, training workshops, peer support groups, and the Carers Passport scheme.
The Filo Project
The Filo project provides day care for older people in small group settings in hosts own homes. It provides homely environments, and highly individualised support.They offer support across Devon.
Together in Dementia Everyday (TIDE)
Together in Dementia Everyday (TIDE) is a UK-wide charity dedicated to supporting current and former carers of people with dementia. The charity connects, enables, and mobilizes carers to use their knowledge to influence change in health and social care, research, and policy development. Tide offers a range of services, including a Carer Development Programme, peer support groups, and opportunities for carers to share their stories and advocate for improved dementia care
Innovations in Dementia CIC
Innovations in Dementia works with people with dementia on projects that help them have a say in decisions that affect their lives. Their projects include Dementia Diaries, which published audio and video diaries by people with dementia. It also produces a range of resources aimed at people with dementia, including My Life My Goals which helps newly diagnosed people to identify their own goals and strategies for living.
Older People’s Mental Health Service
The Older People's Mental Health Service in Devon, provided by Devon Partnership NHS Trust, offers assessment and treatment for older adults experiencing mental health problems including dementia. The multidisciplinary teams include psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and social workers, collaborating to deliver personalized care plans. Services encompass memory clinics, psychological therapies, medication management, and support for carers. Additionally, inpatient care is available at specialized wards like Belvedere Ward in Exeter for those requiring intensive support. Referrals are typically made through a GP. Rare Dementia Support Group
This group meets monthly to support families affected by rarer forms of dementia like fronto temporal dementia or posteriorcortical atrophy. Offers peer connection and guidance. The meetings take place at Powederham but are open to anyone in Devon.
Golden Oldies
Golden Oldies runs monthly social sessions using music and movement to support memory and connection for older people and those with dementia.
It runs on the first Tuesday of each month at St Gregory’s Church Hall between 10.30 and 11.30am.
