Community Development Worker

    At Age UK Gateshead, we believe that everyone deserves to feel connected, valued and supported within their community. We're looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Community Development Worker to join our team and help make that happen.

    This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and creating opportunities that bring communities together. No two days are the same- you could be planning and delivering community activities, supporting older people to build their digital confidence, or helping someone take the first step towards new friendships and greater independence.

    Every conversation, every group and every connection you help create can make a lasting difference to someone's wellbeing.

    About the role

    Hours: 21 hours per week
    Salary: £12.71 per hour
    Location: Gateshead & Newcastle

    As our Community Development Worker, you'll:

    • Develop and deliver engaging community groups and activities.
    • Support older people to improve their digital skills and confidence.
    • Encourage social connections and help reduce loneliness.
    • Work alongside colleagues, volunteers and local partners to strengthen community support.
    • Make a meaningful difference to the lives of older people every day.

    We're looking for someone who:

    • Enjoys working with people from all walks of life.
    • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
    • Is enthusiastic, approachable and compassionate.
    • Can work independently as well as part of a supportive team.
    • Shares our passion for helping older people live happier, more connected lives.
