Celebrating 23 Years of Dedication: Susan Thain Wins Lifetime Achievement Award.
We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that one of our longest-standing and most dedicated volunteers, Susan Thain, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the South Norfolk Community Awards 2025.
The ceremony took place on Friday 4 July at Bawburgh Golf Club, where Susan was recognised for an incredible 23 years of voluntary service. Over the decades, she has given her time, empathy and energy to a number of vital roles at Age UK Norfolk, including Advocacy, Telephone Befriending, and Bereavement Support.
Susan’s contribution has been nothing short of remarkable. Through her quiet dedication and compassionate presence, she has supported countless older people across Norfolk—listening, advising, comforting, and always showing up when it mattered most.
“Susan’s humility, dedication, and positive spirit have touched countless lives. She doesn’t seek recognition, but her impact is undeniable—and truly deserving of this honour.”
Laura Hawkie-Chapman, Age UK Norfolk Volunteer Co-Ordinator
This award shines a light on all the incredible things volunteers like Susan make possible. While Susan may not have sought the spotlight, we are delighted to see her work acknowledged on such a meaningful stage.
Please join us in congratulating Susan on this well-deserved recognition—and in thanking her for everything she continues to do for older people in our community.
