Home Visiting Service for Older People in Norfolk

Published on 26 September 2025 11:08 AM

Age UK Norfolk is expanding awareness of its home visiting service for older people across the county. The service brings practical advice, guidance, and companionship directly to older residents, helping them stay independent, confident, and connected.

Why Home Visits Matter

For many older people in Norfolk, travelling to access services can be difficult due to mobility, health issues, or lack of transport. Home visits remove these barriers, ensuring that no one misses out on essential support.

Emma Harkness, Head of Information and Advice at Age UK Norfolk, explains:

“Our home visits mean that older people don’t have to struggle alone with important paperwork or financial worries. A friendly face on the doorstep, a chat, or support getting out and about can make a huge difference to wellbeing.”

Services Provided During Home Visits

Age UK Norfolk offers face-to-face support tailored to individual needs, including:

  • Welfare benefit applications and checks
  • Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) forms
  • Advocacy for navigating complex issues
  • Money MOT – help with household budgeting and paperwork
  • Digital inclusion support to build confidence using technology
  • Travelling companionship for appointments and outings
  • Face-to-face befriending to reduce isolation and loneliness

These home visits are complemented by Age UK Norfolk’s telephone helpline, befriending service, and regular community advice sessions in libraries and hubs across Norfolk, creating a wide-reaching safety net for older people.
