* COMING SOON *
Launching in April, Green Journeys Together is a friendly and inclusive nature and wellbeing service for people aged 50+ in Norfolk. Our goal is simple: to help older adults enjoy nature, make social connections, and build confidence while exploring their local area.

Through the service, trained volunteer Green Companions provide friendly conversation, encouragement, and practical support. They help participants enjoy activities together, whether at home or outdoors, making nature-based experiences more enjoyable and social.

Enjoy nature at home

For people who find it difficult to get out and about, volunteers bring nature closer to home with activities like:

• Birdwatching and wildlife spotting from your garden or window
• Planting seeds, bulbs, or small container gardens
• Making bird feeders or other simple crafts

These activities are a chance to spend time with a friendly companion, chat, and enjoy the calming benefits of nature without leaving the doorstep.

Explore local green spaces together

For those able to go outside, Green Companions can support gentle local walks, visits to parks or coastal paths, community gardens, and village litter picks. Volunteers help people feel confident exploring local green spaces while meeting others and staying active.

We can also help identify green spaces across Norfolk that suit each person’s interests and abilities, including larger estates like Blickling, local parks, or coastal walks.

Building confidence and independence

Each participant sets personal goals from the start. The service offers up to six short-term sessions, designed to help older adults build confidence, independence, and ongoing engagement with nature beyond the sessions.

Where needed, participants can also access digital support or welfare benefits advice through Age UK Norfolk, ensuring everyone can enjoy and sustain nature opportunities that improve wellbeing and reduce isolation.

Where the service is available

This project is funded to support communities along the Norfolk Offshore Wind Farm pipeline route, including parts of North Norfolk, Broadland, and Breckland. The service is open to people living in selected postcodes in these areas.
