Age UK North Tyneside Marks Net Zero Week 2025

As Net Zero Week 2025 shines a spotlight on climate action across the UK, Age UK North Tyneside is proud to reaffirm its commitment to building a more sustainable, environmentally conscious community for people of all ages.

Previously, we have been the proud winners of North Tyneside’s Silver Award for Carbon Reduction. This came after our investment in hybrid vehicles, LED lighting, and increased recycling efforts.

Over the years, our charity has made meaningful progress toward reducing our environmental footprint. Today, 68% of our supplies are sourced from local suppliers, strengthening the local economy while cutting transport-related emissions.

We have also taken steps to improve waste management, with the introduction of a new recycling system across all of our North Tyneside sites. This upgrade ensures that more of our waste is reused and recycled, helping us take another step toward net zero.

This month, we're also proudly supporting Plastic Free July – Be Part of the Plastic Pollution Solution, a global movement to reduce single-use plastic waste. In line with this campaign, Age UK North Tyneside continues to eliminate the use of paper throughout the organisation, thanks to the success of Access. This digital app allows us to manage workloads, communications, and documentation online. We have also made changes to our recruitment process to move more documentation online to reduce energy usage and waste.

Dawn McNally, Chief Executive at Age UK North Tyneside, said:

“Sustainability is not just about the environment—it’s about building resilient communities where people and the planet thrive together. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and we’re committed to continuing our journey toward a net zero future.”

As we celebrate Net Zero Week 2025, we invite other organisations, partners, and individuals across North Tyneside to join us in making choices that support a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world.
