Almost 2 million older people are expecting to feel lonely this winter, including almost a third of older widows and widowers - according to Age UK’s new research for its 'No one should have no one' campaign.
In North Tyneside there are some 14,000 older people living alone. Some of them will have recently lost their life partner, and sadly this year will be unable to attend any organised activities outside of their homes.
A friendly phone call from an Age UK North Tyneside volunteer could make such a difference.
At Age UK North Tyneside we have a group of specially trained Telephone Befriending volunteers who will phone people for a friendly chat.
The volunteers and befriendees are carefully matched, and the volunteers will phone twice a week at a fixed time, so there's something to look forward to.
By donating to Age UK North Tyneside, you will help us reach the older people that need us most by providing:
- expert advice through our free advice line
- comfort and reassurance through befriending
Every pound counts. Thank you for donating today
A Big Thank You:
To our amazing supporters at Shiremoor House Farm who selflessly decided to fundraise to support older residents here in North Tyneside during COVID 19.
They raised 122% of their target to support our Covid 19 emergency response by their fundraising efforts and their impressive beard growing skills.
Thanks again xxx
