Pension Credit Check

Age UK Salford is partnering with Citizens Advice Salford to encourage the uptake of Free Pension Credit Checks for people of State Pensionable age.

1.30 million people aren’t claiming the Pension Credit they are entitled to, according to Independent Age, the older people’s charity.

This suggests a significant number of people aren’t receiving the benefits they might be entitled to.

This may be because of:

• Lack of awareness of entitlement
• Stigma of receiving a benefit
• People have reached State Pension Age and may be eligible but think they aren’t
• It is means tested. People may still qualify even if they have savings or a house

This may mean only a few extra £’s/ week but it can open the door to other entitlements including a free TV Licence, free NHS dental treatment and check-ups, free sight tests, vouchers for glasses & contact lensesand possibly help with council tax, housing costs and heating bills in the colder months.
