Our specialist day centre for people 60+, adults with disabilities and adults with dementia.

About the Centre

The Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre, operated by Age UK Wandsworth, is a purpose-built space for leisure, recreation and wellbeing. We take a person–centred approach, promoting independence and social inclusion in a safe, relaxed and warm environment. Our kind, caring and experienced staff treat everyone with dignity and respect.

The centre has a fully adapted kitchen, an exercise and games room, a reablement room, an IT suite, and an accessible garden. All our rooms are spacious and well-ventilated with natural light and large windows. Service users have options to engage in a social, friendly environment or relax in peace and quiet.

Transport is provided on modern minibuses and service users can be assisted in/out of their homes. Times of pick up and drop off vary. There is space available for wheelchairs and walking chairs.

Specialist Dementia Service

Our Daffodil Room hosts a specialist dementia service for those with moderate and high needs dementia. This includes a magic table 360, an interactive projector that provides games, music and tranquil backgrounds. Experienced staff with specialist dementia training can personalise activities and games based on individual interests and needs.

Activities and lunch:

Newspapers, board games, puzzles and arts and crafts are always available. Staff regularly put on bingo, quizzes and films. Seated exercise and exercise bike sessions are available all year round, as well as pop-up activities, such as seated yoga and Zumba. In addition, we often host themed coffee mornings for service users and other Wandsworth residents aged 60+.

Our gym and reablement equipment is spread over two rooms, and staff can assist service users with personalised goals and an exercise plan.

We have a large IT suite with accessible features such as height-adjusting tables, keyboards with large keys and trackball mice. Service users are free to use our IT suite whenever they’d like to go online.

The centre has a fully adapted kitchen, with a chef able to cater for specific dietary needs. A menu of refreshments is available throughout the day, including a nutritious two-course lunch for a fee of:

Main course: £4.00

Dessert: £2.00

Tea, coffee, squash, snacks: £1.50

How to access the service:

A social worker will need to carry out an assessment to ensure the individual meets service eligibility criteria to attend. If eligible, a free taster day will be offered. The prospective service user can see if the facilities offered suit and then support would be arranged for any ongoing attendance. If a prospective service user or their carer is interested in this service, then please contact the Wandsworth Adult Social Care Access Team on 020 8871 7707.

Specific dietary requirements can be discussed during the client assessment process.
