New activities planned for Worcester Dementia Café

Published on 20 April 2026 08:45 AM

Age UK Wyvern’s Dementia Café in Worcester is advertising an exciting new range of activities for those living with dementia and their families.

Meeting on the second Tuesday of each month, from 10.30 - 12.30, the free café offers a warm, relaxed and fun environment to meet others in a similar situation and try something new. It’s recently moved to Warndon Community Centre, on Shap Drive, and is hoping to attract more people to the new venue.

Shilpa Odedra volunteers at the café and enjoys the welcoming atmosphere: “It’s such a friendly group with lovely activities. Things that stick out are the visit from Worcester Porcelain, which got people really interested, and the game of seated cricket”.

One regular at the café is Terry Jones, who tried out salsa dancing at the last session. “I’m new to the area and I come here to get to know people,” he explained. The sessions are supported by trained staff from Age UK Wyvern’s Dementia Wellbeing Team, who lead activities and discussions. Complimentary cake and refreshments are provided at all othe cafés.

Kelly Reeves, Dementia Services Manager at Age UK Wyvern, commented, “Last year 916 people in Worcester were diagnosed with dementia. This news can overturn someone’s life and leave them feeling isolated and alone, but it’s vital to emphasise that people can live full, meaningful lives after a diagnosis. Cafés like the one at Warndon Community Hub mean that people can connect, learn new skills and develop new relationships. At Age UK Wyvern we strongly believe in supporting people living with dementia to enjoy life to the full.
