Redditch library to host Health and Wellbeing Event

Published on 15 May 2026 10:13 AM

Age UK Wyvern will be taking part in a free “Health and Wellbeing Event” at Redditch library, including advice for people living with dementia and their loved ones. The session will take place on Friday 22nd May from 10:00am to 12.30am and anyone interested is welcome to drop by.

The event offers a chance to talk directly to Age UK Wyvern staff about support on offer, as well as attending talks and enjoying some free refreshments. Advice will also be available on protection against scammers, who sadly often target vulnerable older people. The library is situated in the Market Place in Redditch and offers disabled toilets and wheelchair access.

Kelly Reeves, Dementia Services Manager at Age UK Wyvern, commented:

“We’re delighted to be invited to the event and would welcome anyone who has concerns about dementia, is living with and or supporting someone living with dementia to come and meet our team. There’s lots of support available and it’s important that people get to hear about events and resources that could make all the difference to their lives.”

People caring for a family member or friend living with dementia make a massive contribution to their wellbeing, but often face numerous challenges.  A report commissioned by the Alzheimer’s Society in 2024 found that, “The cost and time commitment of this care is significant, with a third of unpaid dementia carers reporting that they spend more than 100 hours per week caring for a dementia patient”*.

Age UK Wyvern has a dedicated Dementia Wellbeing Team, made up of staff with extensive experience of helping people affected by dementia. Through the help of volunteers, we run 9 Dementia Cafes across Worcestershire which offer activities and a chance to socialise in a friendly environment. Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy courses have also proved extremely popular, providing activities to maintain memory and mental functioning.
