Pension Credit Week of Action

The week of 12th-16th October is Pension Credit Week of Action.
Don't Assume You're Not Entitled
Many older people believe they cannot claim Pension Credit because they have never worked in the UK or have not paid National Insurance contributions or they have too much savings. A recent case supported by Age UK Bexley demonstrates that this is not always the case.
Pension Credit: A Benefit Check Can Make a Big Difference
During a recent benefit check, Age UK Bexley supported an older resident who believed she was not entitled to financial help because she had never worked in the UK and had no National Insurance contribution record.
Our advisers identified potential entitlement to Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance, supported the necessary applications, and secured:
- £7,299.30 in backdated benefits
- £352.60 per week in ongoing income
- Access to additional support linked to Pension Credit
This case highlights an important message: Don't assume you're not entitled to Pension Credit. Many older people miss out on Pension Credit because they believe they won't qualify.
If you are over State Pension age, Age UK Bexley can provide a free and confidential benefit check to ensure you are receiving all the support you may be entitled to.
