Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees offer befriending services at home and over the phone.

We offer a befriending service for any older person who feels lonely or isolated and try to support them to lead a more fullfilling life.

Following a visit by our client liaison team and a discussion about how we can help, a Volunteer Befriender is introduced to provide face-to-face friendship and support.

  • Request a befriender

If you feel lonely or isolated, you can ask about the befriending service yourself or ask someone to contact us on your behalf and a staff member will be in contact.

Please give us a call us on 01422 252 040 or drop us an email at enquiries@ageukck.org.uk.

  • Volunteer as a befriender

If you are interested in volunteering as a befriender, we would love to hear from you too! Email us at enquiries@ageukck.org.uk or call us on 01422 252 040. Alternatively you can download our Volunteer Application Pack.

Call in time via Age UK National

Call in Time is a free telephone befriending service for matching volunteers with older people offered by the national charity Age UK.

Not having someone to talk to regularly can be lonely and isolating, particularly if you're used to sharing your home and time with others.

A friendly, weekly, 30-minute chat on the phone can make all the difference.

While they're waiting to find a suitable match for an older member of the public, they carry out regular, short Good Day Calls with them, to make sure the older pserson is still being contacted.
