Scooter hire is £5.00 for three hours in Halifax town centre. Other equipment and durations available, prices on enquiry. All goods in shop are individually priced, please visit our shop or contact us for more information.

We sell a wide range of mobility and living aids to keep you safe and independent in your own home. Rent mobility equipment including scooters, wheelchairs, tri-walkers and ramps.

Mobility and Living Aids

We sell a range of high quality mobility and living aids, from hand rails to stairlifts and our dedicated staff will take time to understand your needs and explain how things work. Our biggest showroom is at our shop in Woolshops (open 10am-3pm Mon-Sat).

We can even come and visit you at home if necessary.

We also have a handyperson team who can deliver, explain and install equipment for you!

You can speak to one of our dedicated advisers at our outlet in Calderdale or call in to try out the aids for yourself!

If we don't have what you're looking for we can usually get particular aids within a couple of days from the extensive range from our suppliers.

Shopmobility

We hire mobility equipment to members of the public at very reasonable rates.This service is open to anyone, young or old, whether their disability is temporary or permanent. You do not need to be registered disabled or resident in the area.You can rent for a few hours to do your shopping or you can rent longer term for holidays or recuperation. You have a choice of:

- Powered scooters for use in town
- Small scooters that can fold up and fit into the boot of a car
- Manual wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs
- Wheeled walkers
- Ramps

When renting a scooter for the first time we ask you to bring a form of identification. Full training is given to new users and everyone is escorted on their first visit to ensure their safety.

How much does it cost?:
£5 for up to 3 hours in the town centres and 50p for every additional half hour. Up to 6 month rental also available on all products.

Mobility scooter servicing and repair:
We provide a breakdown, servicing and repair service for your own scooter. You can bring the scooter to our shop or we can come out to you.

Find out how we helped Jean:

Jean White lives in Brighouse. After a spell in hospital our Home from Hospital team visited her to help with shopping, household admin, sorting home adaptations and general reassurance, as Jean had lost much of her confidence.

A while later, Jean was feeling trapped inside her house as her driveway is very steep and she didn’t feel able to tackle it un-aided.

Her family is very supportive but they do not live locally so they decided to contact the Home from Hospital team who had been so helpful in the first place, to see if they could help out again.

They referred her to our Mobility Dept, who installed a handrail up the side of Jean’s drive.

‘Thanks to Age UK, now I can get out and remind myself that there is still a world outside my front door!’ said Jean
