Ageing Better in Camden: Two years into the Ageing Better in Camden programme, it was apparent that the approach so far had not enabled us to engage with smaller Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities and micro groups in Camden.
To address this, we designed and developed a BAME Community Action Project (CAP) in 2018 which included finding a way to fund, support and develop the capacity of small BAME-led organisations to tackle loneliness and social isolation in older people within smaller minority communities in Camden. A three-tier partnership was developed and commissioned to deliver the project.
In April 2021, ABC commissioned independent research into the development, implementation, and impact of the BAME-CAP project to document learning from the project. We welcome you to read the report summary, or click the button below to read the full report. Please do share this report with anyone interested in learning more about working in this way.
What are the benefits of partnering with Age UK Camden?
A partnership with us could be beneficial for your business by helping you meet your corporate social responsibility objectives. It's a great way to motivate employees, gain insight into the over-50s market, get some great PR and help Age UK Camden to support vulnerable people in the local community. Contact our marketing and communications team for more information.
How can we get involved?
There are a number of ways your organisation can partner with us:
Run a fundraising event
Your employees could run their own fundraiser to help raise vital funds for our work. They could do a cake sale, dress down day, a sponsored walk or run, sports event or a raffle. There's so many things they could do - contact us for more ideas!
Over the Christmas period, Northbridge House School held their Annual Christmas Carol Service and chose to donate all funds raised to us. They raised over £450 by collecting money at the concert, and they plan to keep raising money at the school for us too.
Sponsor one of our events
A straightforward way to help us is to give financial support for events we are organising as that means more of the proceeds raised goes to the people we help. In return we can name you as a sponsor and put your name on the marketing material and across our social media channels. You can feature your contribution on your social media channels too.
Donate a raffle prize or service
Could you donate a prize for one of our many fundraising raffles and competitions - perhaps a bottle of wine, box of chocolates or biscuits, bath goodies, gift vouchers, or free services?
Employee volunteering
Could you send a team to help out at an event or activity? It's a great way for staff to bond by working together to help vulnerable older people. Previous staff teams have helped at Christmas parties and taken older people on days out. Find out more about corporate volunteering opportunities.
Team activity
A group activity is a great way to boost staff morale and raise money for us. Perhaps you could organise a quiz night, snooker or darts match with your staff and/or customers.
Donate a percentage from the sale of a product
Could you give us a small percentage of the sale of a particular product or service for one month? Or ask your customers if they would add £1 to their bill with that £1 going to Age UK Camden. We can give you collection boxes and publicise the promotion in our newsletter and on our social media channels. We’ll help you every way we can
Display a collection tin
Could you display a collection tin in your office or shop? This would help us to collect much needed donations to continue our vital work in Camden.
