Coach Club Volunteer

About Age Cymru West Glamorgan

We are a local charity providing a range of services to our clients, families, and carers across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend. Alongside our support services, we also run Coach Club — relaxed, sociable days out for adults aged 50+ and their carers. These trips offer the chance to explore great places, enjoy good company, and simply have a fun, easy-going day with others.

Role Description: We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make our coach trips run smoothly and feel relaxed from start to finish. Whether you’re sharing a chat, helping someone find a seat, or just being part of the day, you’ll be playing a part in making each trip a great experience. You don’t need to be a tour guide — just someone who’s happy to be there and join in.

Hours: Trips vary — some are half days, others last the full day — and you can pick and choose which ones to join. Timings depend on the destination and travel, so we’ll always let you know in advance.

Location:  Coach trips depart from pick-up points across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend. At least one volunteer will need to board at each of these locations to help ensure a smooth and welcoming experience from the start. Destinations vary, but often include scenic spots, cultural attractions, seasonal events, and relaxed days out — giving volunteers the chance to enjoy the experience too.

What will I do?

  • Be a welcoming, friendly face on the day.
  • Chat with people and help everyone feel comfortable and included.
  • Help with event logistics such as refreshments, seating, and collecting paperwork.
  • Help make the day run smoothly, from pick-up to drop-off.

What will I gain?

  • The chance to make a positive difference in a small but meaningful way.
  • A fun, sociable day out with great people.
  • The opportunity to visit interesting places and enjoy new experiences.
  • A warm volunteer team where everyone’s contribution is valued.
  • Access to training including Safeguarding and Dementia Awareness.

What skills do I need?

You don’t need special qualifications — just the right attitude. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Friendly, approachable, and happy to chat.
  • Patient and understanding of different needs.
  • Willing to lend a hand wherever it’s needed.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Respectful, reliable, and mindful of confidentiality.

To apply: Email volunteer@agecymruwestglamorgan.org.uk or call 01792 648866 and speak to Emma Gardiner to have a chat about the role.
