We are a local charity providing a range of services to our clients, families and carers across the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend areas. Our work promotes well-being and empowers people to age well.
Role Description:
To support and inspire older people to enjoy the benefits of being online in ways that best suit them. You will provide personalised, one-to-one or group support to help individuals overcome barriers to getting online, build digital skills, and grow confidence when using technology. This may also include supporting virtual reality (VR) experiences, which promote wellbeing, relaxation, and enjoyment, particularly for unpaid carers. This role supports independence, connection, and wellbeing, and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Location: Community settings and people’s homes
What will you do?
- Deliver 1:1 and/or group sessions to develop basic digital skills and build online confidence.
- Encourage and support the use of everyday technology, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart speakers and smart TVs.
- Help people get connected by supporting WiFi set-up and introducing websites and apps that may be useful or enjoyable
- Support and facilitate virtual reality (VR) experiences, ensuring participants feel comfortable and supported using the equipment.
- Create a welcoming, calm and supportive environment during sessions and events
- Gather feedback to help improve digital and VR activities.

What skills do you need?
- Confidence carrying out everyday online activities (e.g. using apps, browsing the internet, online services)
- Willingness to learn new technology, including VR equipment
- Ability to explain information clearly, accessibly and at an appropriate pace.
- Empathy, patience, and a desire to make a difference.
- Willingness to understand the issues and barriers affecting older people and those around them, specifically with regards to digital skills.

This is a voluntary position. Age Cymru West Glamorgan will reimburse volunteers for out of pocket travel costs including public transport costs.
All activities will run during opening hours - Monday to Friday 09:00 – 16:30
