Smart meters in the home
A smart meter can make life easier in lots of ways, including by sending your gas and electricity readings direct to your energy supplier. You’ll also get accurate bills, based on the energy you’ve actually used, not an estimate. With winter slowly approaching, having this control over your energy use can help you budget over the colder months. And, you don’t need internet access to have one.
In-Home Display
Smart meters come with an optional display so you can see at a glance if and when you’re using more energy than usual, for example if you’ve been using an appliance that uses a lot of energy. This can help you to take steps to reduce your energy use. These smart meter displays also come in accessible formats, which can read information out loud. Contact your energy supplier to find out more. If you’re getting a smart meter installed, let the supplier know that you need an accessible smart meter display.
