Fairfield Older People's Group

Published on 09 February 2026 12:12 PM

Our Fairfield Older People's Group has had an unsettled time of late having to move from their longtime home at St Nicholas' Hall, then working with a local community group who have opened up a deserted shop as a community centre, a short time at Queens Court and they then faced homelessness until a local pub the '19th Hole' offered them a warm welcome.

The group, supported by Anne (formerly our Befriending Coordinator) and our fabulous volunteers Dianne and Elaine have been made very welcome by the landlords Sue and Martyn who even provide refreshments and the warmest room we've been in for a long time! So if you are in the area and fancy a drink do visit the 19th Hole and say hello.

We always welcome new people to the group which offers tea and coffee, activities, lots of chatter and some guest speakers and visiting projects. Its open to any older people in the Fairfield/Buxton area.

Recently Dianne, the volunteer who runs Fairfield, has been approaching local businesses to see if they will donate to the running costs of Fairfield Older Peoples Group. We would like to say a huge thank you to Fairfield Building Supplies who gave a £100 cash donation to the group on Friday: Fairfield Builders Supplies – Bathroom Showroom, Plumbing & Builders Merchant
