Today, 23rd March 2021, we mark the one year anniversary since the first Coronavirus lockdown was announced.  On 23rd March 2020 Boris Johnson announced the measures that would be taken to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

A year on we are still living with these restrictions but are hopeful of a way out through vaccinations and testing.

Today at midday we will take the opportunity to reflect on the past year during a minute's silence.  This is a chance to remember those who have died and all the hard work of key workers, volunteers and communities during the pandemic so far.

At 8pm tonight people are being encouraged to take to their doorsteps as part of a Beacon of Remembrance to remember those who have died and those who are dealing with a bereavement.  By holding a phone, torch or even a candle we will create a beacon of light to remember those who have died from Covid-19.
