Our campaigns

Age UK Derby and Derbyshire participate in a number of campaigns each year. Most relate to our work each day with hundreds of older people in Derby and Derbyshire and concentrate on improving basic quality of life issues such as warmth, nutrition, sufficient income and having a voice.

older man and younger womanOur campaigns work in two directions – one towards older people to encourage them to access help and support and the other to statutory bodies to encourage them to develop best practice.

Some campaigns are part of national campaigns coordinated by Age UK, other campaigns are local and reflect specific issues in our area.

Other campaigns are about making later life a part of life and challenging assumptions about older people’s needs and aspirations.

So we promote safe sex, equalities issues and human rights, access to local services and activities for older people.

Regionally, we work in the East Midlands on regional campaigns.

AUKDD is a member of the regional Equality and Diversity Network and has worked on projects with older lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people.
