Make this year the year you make a difference in your community – volunteer at Age UK Ealing and help us create brighten up the lives of older people in our local area.

The past few years have been challenging for everyone. Across Ealing and in the surrounding areas, many older individuals are seeking communication – because in today's post-pandemic world, human connection is more vital than ever. Which is where you come in. This year, you can help create that connection, by becoming a Home or Telephone Support Befriender for Age UK Ealing.

What does an Age UK Ealing Befriender do?

    • Offers companionship to older individuals across the borough, through phone calls or in-person visits.
    • Engages in activities with older individuals including teatime chats, reading, board games, and teaching digital skills.
    • Provides support when an individual wants to get out and about, or by simply spending time with them at home.

What skills will you need?

  • Kindness, empathy, and friendliness.
  • A good sense of humour.
  • A love for conversation.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and adherence to confidentiality procedures.
  • Ability to teach digital skills like email, Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and web browsing (training will be provided)
