Temporary Retail Area Manager (3‑Month FTC)

  • Salary: £43,000 – £48,000 (pro rata, dependent on experience)
  • Location: East Sussex
  • Hours: 35 per week
  • Start: ASAP

We’re seeking an experienced and people‑focused Temporary Retail Area Manager to support our retail operations over an initial three‑month fixed term contract. This is a key leadership role providing stability, consistency and operational excellence across our multi‑site retail stores.

About the Role

As a Temporary Retail Area Manager, you will lead and support a team of Store Managers across multiple locations, ensuring high standards of performance, compliance and customer experience. Your primary focus will be:

  1. People Leadership (Top Priority)
  • Coaching, supporting and developing Store Managers
  • Building strong, positive relationships across teams
  • Driving a culture of accountability, wellbeing and high performance
  1. Operational Standards & Process Compliance
  • Ensuring all agreed processes, procedures and controls are consistently followed
  • Maintaining high levels of retail operational excellence
  • Supporting stores to achieve agreed income, expenditure and performance targets
  1. Multi‑Site Retail Management
  • Providing hands‑on leadership across multiple retail locations
  • Monitoring KPIs, identifying risks and implementing improvements
  • Ensuring stores deliver exceptional customer and donor experiences
  1. Charity Retail Experience (Desirable)
  • Understanding the unique environment of charity retail
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, donors and community partners

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Proven experience managing managers in a multi‑site retail environment
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people‑development skills
  • A calm, structured and solutions‑focused approach
  • Experience delivering store‑level financial and operational targets
  • Charity sector experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Clean Driving Licence and has use of own vehicle
