Current Vacancies

Information and Advice Worker

Hours: 21 hours (initial 5 month fixed term contract)

Salary: £22,146 pro rata

Our Information and Advice team requires a motivated individual with previous experience of advising on welfare benefits and excellent communication skills. The vacancy is for an initial five month fixed term contract (subject to funding).

The role of Advice Worker involves providing information and advice on a range of social welfare issues to older people, their carers and other professionals working with older people by telephone, email and face to face. Understanding the needs of and issues affecting older people is essential.

Both roles will be based at our City Centre offices and community hubs in North and South Manchester and will include regular travel across the City to meet with clients. Travel expenses will be covered.

The successful applicant must have previous experience of advising on welfare benefits, including the following matters:

  • Checking benefit entitlement
  • Helping with benefit claims
  • Challenging adverse benefit decisions
  • Accessing social care services
  • Identifying housing options
  • Dealing with debt or utility bills

Due to the nature of our work, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate is required. The £44 cost of which will be refunded after satisfactorily completing three months employment.

Successful applicants will care for older people in their own homes as part of a care plan intended to help our clients achieve maximum independence.

Applicants should hold a formal qualification in care or demonstrate a willingness to undertake training to at least NVQ Level II in Care.

Successful applicants care for older people in our Holmfiled Residential Home, ensuring residents can continue their life with privacy and dignity, whist receiving the highest standard of care.

Applicants should hold a formal qualification in care or demonstrate a willingness to undertake training to at least NVQ Level II in Care.
