We’re taking part in the annual Big Give Christmas Challenge to tackle loneliness through the power of friendship.

The challenge launches at 12pm on Tuesday 1 December 2026. For one week only, every donation made through our campaign will be DOUBLED, thanks to match funding through the Big Give. That means your donation can make double the difference!

Our theme this year is ‘Ageing Well Together’. The funds we raise will help us continue providing exercise classes, wellbeing services, dementia groups and friendship groups for older people across Northumberland. Together, we can help the people we support stay active, connected and supported, and enjoy a better quality of life as they age.

Many of the older people we support across Northumberland experience loneliness and isolation, alongside declining health and reduced confidence. These challenges can have a significant impact on their wellbeing and quality of life, making it harder to stay connected and involved in their communities.

We aim to provide welcoming, accessible opportunities for older people to stay active, access support and build meaningful friendships. Every donation will help us tackle loneliness, strengthen connections and build a more supportive community for older people across Northumberland.

What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is an annual online match-funding campaign that supports charities and causes across the UK. It is the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, giving supporters the opportunity to double their donations for one week only.

How does the Christmas Challenge work?
The Christmas Challenge uses a match-funding model that enables participating charities to have donations doubled through funding pledged by the charity’s own supporters and the Big Give’s Champion partners.

For example, if you donate £50 through our campaign, your donation will be matched with an additional £50, giving our charity £100 to support older people in Northumberland.

When does it begin?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge launches at 12pm on Tuesday 1 December 2026 and closes exactly one week later, at 12pm on Tuesday 8 December 2026.

How much are we hoping to raise?
We’re aiming to raise £4,500 to help older people across Northumberland stay active, connected and supported.

Who is our Champion?
This year, we’re delighted to be supported by The Reed Foundation, our Champion for the Big Give Christmas Challenge.
