Covid: listening to older voices

Tell us how Covid-19 is affecting you

Age UK Rotherham is working with Rotherham Older People's Forum to gather information and stories about how Covid-19 is affecting people in later life.

There's no particular age limit, just think about those in your family, group, or community who are finding their own ways to manage the situation and the restrictions that we are all living with.

The situation is now frequently changing and we hope this survey will give people a chance to tell us about what it’s been like for them and also share their feelings about the next six months.

We’d like to hear from as many older people as possible so as well as the survey being available online it can be downloaded in Word format or PDF then printed and completed by hand if preferred.

We know a lot of older people aren’t online so it would be great if families could support their relatives or friends to share their experiences and have their voice heard.

The survey will be available to complete throughout December 2020. We’ll also be posting reminders about it on our social media to encourage as many people as possible to tell us how Covid-19 has affected them.

In August 2020, the national Age UK charity carried out its own research to understand how Covid-19 had impacted on older people's physical and mental health. The results were published in their report: The impact of COVID-19 to date on older people’s mental and physical health. We are interested to know whether older people locally have experienced Covid in the same way or if there are local differences.

The results of our survey will be available on our website in the New Year. We hope your responses will help us to provide effective support for older people and help other organisations understand about the support people need in later life as the situation changes in the year ahead.
