Christmas Day Opportunities

If you would like to find company on Christmas day there are some local opportunities to visit on Christmas Day and during the festive period.

Trinity Church Sutton

Are hosting a Christmas Day Community Lunch – you do need to book in advance by calling 020 8643 6884 or emailing trinitychurchsutton@gmail.com

Trinity Church Sutton are also running a “Christmas Lounge” from 27th December to New Years Day 11:30 – 2:30pm – a warm welcome, light refreshments, newspapers and board games available in the Terrace Room. Just drop in if you would like to attend.

Although there is no need to book at the time, a call to check availability is advised. 020 8643 6884.

The Alexandra - Wimbledon

Dubbed their “Don’t be alone on Christmas day dinner” there are “No strings attached” they are offering a free dinner for anyone that would like one on Christmas Day between 12pm and 3pm. You will be sat on tables with others you do not know although they will be following the Covid guidance, masks and social distancing. A cooked Christmas lunch and a chance to make some new friends. The pub is a short 2 minute walk from Wimbledon station on Wimbledon Hill Road.

Salvation Army Sutton

Although the Coffee house will be closed between 24 December and 3 January and Sutton Salvation Army will be open for worship Sundays 10:30am – 11:30am and Sutton Foodbank 12pm – 2:00pm Monday and Friday.

Sutton Mental Health Foundation

If you’d prefer to get together for some festive cheer from the comfort of your own home, you can join Sutton Mental Health Foundation’s Christmas Day online coffee morning, 10:30-11:30am.

Someone to talk to over the festive period

Some of our services do pause over the Christmas period and if you find that you would like someone to talk to here are some options available for you:

The British Red Cross

The British Red Cross have a support line for anyone feeling lonely, in need of emotional support, or local support services. You can also call if you feel worried about accessing food or medication call 0808 196 365.

Samaritans

Samaritans have a support line 24/7 every day of the year. If you are having a difficult time and need to share how you are feeling you can call them for free to talk things through – just call 116 123 or email jo@smaritans.org (response time 24 hours).

Sutton Mental Health Foundation Crisis Café

Open 365 days a year 6:30pm – 11:00pm as a drop in service available to people in mild to moderate mental health crisis who need a safe space and someone to listen. If you are finding the festive period tough and need to discuss how you are feeling you can drop in to their comfortable space in Downs Road Belmont or call 0800 012 9082 “While we are called a Crisis Café, we don't really offer food - although a cup of tea can be very helpful. We will have some therapeutic activities such as colouring and board games, but if you want yoga, art or mindfulness, we offer those in our daytime service at the Belmont Connect”
