Volunteer Trustee with HR or Social Care Expertise

Age UK Teesside

Middlesbrough

Age UK Teesside supports people in later life throughout the boroughs of Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland. We are seeking to expand our dynamic board of experienced directors and managers.

We are especially looking for those with senior experience in HR and employment law, as well as those with expertise in health & social care and safeguarding for older people.

Who are we helping?

Tens of thousands of older people in Teesside suffer isolation, loneliness, deprivation and the health conditions of later life, especially dementia. Age UK Teesside strives to tackle these problems through a wide range of community-based programmes, operated by our dedicated staff and volunteers.

What will you be doing?

Contributing to our quarterly board meetings and providing strategic direction, tactical support and advice to our chief executive and 15 staff through our committee structure and on an ad hoc basis. Apart from formal meetings, much of your work can be undertaken remotely.

What are we looking for?

You are likely to have worked in a senior role in either the public or private sector and to have experience of strategic planning, leadership, decision-making, operational management and trouble-shooting.

We expect you to bring these skills to our board and contribute in a positive way to our business and operational planning. You will bring enthusiasm and creative thinking to the role and share the commitment of our board, management, staff and volunteers.

What difference will you make?

We make a real difference to the most vulnerable older people in our community and you can share in the satisfaction and pride we have in all that we achieve. You will enjoy working with a friendly and motivated senior team and will develop your own skills and experience in a positive environment.
