How you can Act Now to Age Better

Published on 08 May 2025 10:25 AM

Getting older is a privilege, but one that can come with many challenges. While we can’t prevent ageing, we can take action earlier on in life to help us to age in the best way possible.

Lots of us are living longer than ever before, with the average life expectancy in the UK now standing at 78.8 years for males and 87.8 years for females.

But many people are still afraid to talk about ageing - which can stop us from preparing for later life and giving ourselves the best chance of ageing well. The best way to do this is to start thinking about later life in our 50s and 60s, rather than later on.

You don’t have to be in your 70s or 80s to get involved with Age UK Bolton. Many of our services are available to anyone over 50 in the Bolton area, including our Ageing Well activities and our helpful Information and Advice service.

At Age UK Bolton, we are committed to transforming public attitudes to ageing in the local area.

That’s why we’re supporting Age UK’s Act Now, Age Better campaign, which is encouraging people in mid-life to move more for a better later life.

The more conversations we start having about ageing, the more we can get out of getting older. With your help, we can change in how we age in Bolton.
