We offer a range of exercise and wellbeing activities for people aged 50 and over, designed to help you improve your strength, balance and confidence.

Whether you’re feeling unsteady, have experienced a fall, are returning home from the hospital, or simply want to stay active, we will support you every step of the way.

Getting started

Getting started is simple:

  • You are referred to our service, or contact us directly
  • We will contact you within 10 working days
  • You attend an assessment at a local venue
  • We support you into the most suitable activity

All clients need to attend an assessment before joining any activity. This ensures we place you in the right session and support you safely.

What we offer

We offer a range of classes and programmes to support you with staying strong and independent, whatever your current level of fitness.

12-week specialist Strength and Balance programme

Community exercise classes

We also offer supported gym sessions and backwards chaining sessions as part of our 12-week specialist programme.

Where sessions take place

We deliver assessments and sessions at a range of accessible venues across the borough.

Cost

  • 12-week Specialist Programme: Free
  • Backward Chaining sessions: Free
  • Supported gym sessions: Free (initial period)
  • Community exercise classes: £4 per session

How to access the service

You can access this service if you are aged 50 or over, through a referral or by contacting us directly.

You can:

  • Ask your GP, healthcare professional or support worker to refer you
  • Self-refer by calling our office on 01204 382411, and we will complete the referral with you
  • Fill in an online referral form below

Once we receive your referral, we will contact you within 10 working days to arrange your assessment.

You can fill in an online referral form to refer yourself to the Strength and Balance service. Once submitted, a member of the team will be in touch within 10 working days.
