12-week specialist Strength and Balance programme
Our 12-week specialist programme is designed to help improve strength and balance for those most at risk of falls.
Our structured programme is designed for people who:
- Feel unsteady
- Have experienced a fall
- Lack confidence in their balance, mobility or exercise ability
The programme focuses on:
- Improving strength and balance
- Building confidence in everyday movement
- Supporting independence
Sessions are delivered by trained instructors and tailored to your ability.
Support after your programme
Once you’ve completed the 12-week programme, we will continue to support your progress through:
Backward chaining sessions
Helping you learn how to safely get up from the floor and build confidence after a fall.
Supported gym sessions
Delivered with our partners and supported by Age UK Bolton staff, helping you:
- Build confidence using gym equipment
- Exercise safely
- Move towards independent activity
We are continuing to expand this offer to increase access across the borough.
Community exercise classes
Our friendly, regular exercise classes, delivered across the borough.
How to access the service
You can access this service if you are aged 50 or over, through a referral or by contacting us directly.
You can:
- Ask your GP, healthcare professional or support worker to refer you
- Self-refer by calling our office on 01204 382411, and we will complete the referral with you
- Speak to a member of our team
Once we receive your referral, we will contact you within 10 working days to arrange your assessment.
