What is a Trustee?

Charity trustees are the people who share ultimate responsibility for governing a charity and directing how it is managed and run.

They may also be known as trustees, the board, the management committee, governors, directors or something else. Here at Age UK Bolton we refer to our trustees as the Board of Trustees.

We would expect, as a minimum,  our trustees to be in attendance at our Board of Trustees meeting as well as the AGM totalling to usually 6 meetings per year with an approximate running time of 2 hours per meeting. In addition to this there will be the reading of relevant papers to the meetings  to prepare for each one.

We would also encourage our trustees to nominate themselves to relevant sub committees/groups which will carry with them extra time commitments and will give further opportunities to interact with both staff and volunteers within the charity.

Why be a Trustee

Being a trustee with Age UK Bolton gives you the opportunity to Provide support to our Chief Executive Suzanne Hilton in leading a long established and well trusted local charity that is making a real difference to the lives of Bolton's ageing generation. It will give you an opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise to our cause and has the potential to help you gain valuable experience and learn new skills within a leadership role within Age UK Bolton.
