Community Drop In volunteer

Role Description
As a community volunteer you will play a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for older people in Great Lever, Bolton, especially during the winter months when a heated room is provided. You will be responsible for various tasks to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.
Specific responsibilities
- Set up and preparation of the room
- Create a friendly and welcoming area
- Assist in serving hot drinks to client
- Monitor the heated room during the winter months, ensuring it stays warm and comfortable, adjust heating if necessary
- Be available to have friendly chats with clients and provide any information the may need about other Age UK Bolton services
- Keep the room clean and tidy and clear up at the end
Skills and Qualifications
- An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
- A liking for and interest in working with older people
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check)
Time Requirements
We would ideally be looking for people to commit to volunteering for 2-3 hours each week on a weekday. Time and day of the week TBC.
