Singing Group Volunteer
Age UK Bolton has become one of the area’s most significant, dynamic and highly regarded charities working with and on behalf of Bolton’s over 50 population. Essentially a local charity, we are also proud to be a brand partner of the influential national Age UK charity.
Role Description
As a singing group volunteer, you would create a harmonious and engaging environment for the over 50’s to come together once per week to sing, at Walmsley community church in Bolton.
Specific responsibilities
- Plan and lead singing sessions for the group, selecting a variety of song appropriate to the tastes and abilities of the group
- Encourage participation from all attendees, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere regardless of ability
- Promote social interaction and a sense of community within the group
- Take group register and ensure enrolment forms are completed by all attendees
- Work as part of a team with other Age UK Bolton staff and volunteers.
Skills and Qualifications
- Interest in music and singing, with an understanding of various musical genres
- An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
- A liking for and interest in working with older people
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check)
Time Requirements
We would ideally be looking for people to commit to volunteering for 1-2 hours weekly
