Role Description

As a singing group volunteer, you would create a harmonious and engaging environment for the over 50’s to come together once per week to sing, at Walmsley community church in Bolton.

Specific responsibilities

  • Plan and lead singing sessions for the group, selecting a variety of song appropriate to the tastes and abilities of the group
  • Encourage participation from all attendees, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere regardless of ability
  • Promote social interaction and a sense of community within the group
  • Take group register and ensure enrolment forms are completed by all attendees
  • Work as part of a team with other Age UK Bolton staff and volunteers.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Interest in music and singing, with an understanding of various musical genres
  • An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
  • A liking for and interest in working with older people
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check)

Time Requirements

We would ideally be looking for people to commit to volunteering for 1-2 hours weekly
