Age Without Limits

At Age UK Buckinghamshire we’re proud to support the Age Without Limits movement. A national campaign set up by Centre for Ageing Better that focuses on challenging ageism and celebrating the incredible value of older people.
What is Age Without Limits Action Day?
The Age Without Limits campaign encourages communities across the country to come together with a shared mission: to challenge stereotypes, spark conversations, and build a culture that celebrates ageing.
20th March 2024 marked the first ever Age Without Limits Action Day, an annual event set up by the Centre for Ageing Better to help change the way we think about getting older.
It’s a chance to:
- Raise awareness of ageism and how it affects people in everyday life
- Celebrate the experiences and contributions of older people
- Promote opportunities and activities that support ageing well

Our 2025 Age Without Limits Day Event
Age Without Limits Day took place on Wednesday 11th June 2025 and the theme for this year was celebrate ageing, challenge ageism. On Sunday 8 June 2025, we brought the community together at Quarrendon and Meadowcroft Community Centre in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, for a fun-filled and informative celebration that included:
- Information stalls from local organisations like CPJ Field, Sport in Mind and Calibre Audio
- Craft workshops led by talented local residents
- Exercise taster sessions, including an OTAGO Falls Prevention class run by Caroline from CC Coaching
- Local artists selling their handmade creations
- An uplifting visit from the Aylesbury Town Mayor
- A village-style bake sale (our buttercream-filled Victoria sponge was a runaway favourite!)
Throughout the event, we collected feedback through story telling from residents using conversational prompts, which gave us valuable insights into their thoughts and opinions on ageism. We welcomed around 70–80 attendees, mostly older adults from the local community, alongside members of faith groups and supportive neighbours. The afternoon was spent trying new activities, connecting with others and sharing inspiring stories about living life to the fullest.
How you can get involved
We’d love for you to join us in building an age-positive Buckinghamshire. Here’s how you can be part of the movement:
- Take part in local activities and events that celebrate ageing — keep an eye on our Activities and Events page for future dates
- Challenge ageism when you see it — whether it’s in conversations, at the workplace or in the media.
- Share your story about positive ageing — we’d love to hear from older residents about their experiences, hobbies and what ageing well means to them.
- Use age-positive images to represent older adults in your media and communications.
- Volunteer with us to help create more opportunities for older adults to connect, contribute and thrive.
Want to get involved in our event next year? Email agefriendly@ageukbucks.org.uk or call Eleanor, our Project Delivery Officer, on 07369241864 for more information.
The importance of age-positive imagery
It is really important that we think about the images we use to depict older adults to challenge stereotypes. Have a look at the Centre for Ageing Better’s Age-positive image library. This is a free resource for all to use.
