Role: Information, Advice & Welfare Benefits Officer
Reporting to: Service Manager
Salary: £26,125 (FTE)
Terms: Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with possibility for extension
Hours of work: 27 hours per week across 5 days (requests for fewer hours or job shares will be considered)
Location: Aylesbury (office based with some flexibility for home working and occasional community working)

Job purpose
Provide friendly, accurate and timely signposting, guidance and advice to older people in Buckinghamshire via telephone, online and email, enabling them to make informed choices and maximise their income through benefits support where eligible.

The role will also support partner organisations through targeted outreach and training to increase community reach and impact, while managing and protecting client data and championing the needs and experiences of older people.

Key tasks and responsibilities
The postholder will work as part of our established Information & Advice and Welfare Benefits team, supporting older people on a wide range of issues associated with ageing, with a particular focus on helping clients maximise their income through welfare benefits advice and support.

Duties:

  • Provide friendly, responsive and timely support to clients, their families and advocates.
  • Respond to enquiries in a thorough and holistic way, using available resources to help resolve issues and maximise support.
  • Respond to welfare benefits enquiries, advise on eligibility and carry out benefit calculations.
  • Signpost and refer clients to appropriate services within and outside Age UK Buckinghamshire.
  • Manage client cases efficiently and maintain accurate records on our CRM.
  • Occasionally provide information and advice at community outreach events.
  • Uphold quality assurance standards and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Be alert to potential safeguarding or vulnerability concerns.
