Our work is only possible due to the generosity of people and organisations that support us. We run national Age UK fundraising campaigns locally, organise our own fundraising events and offer full support to community fundraisers. So whatever you want to do to help us, whether you want to do a sponsored challenge, organise a tea party or knit some hats for our Big Knit campaign, we are here to help you succeed.

Andrew's 500 mile walk for Age UK Bucks

On Monday 5th June, our amazing fundraiser Andrew completed his incredible 500 mile walk. This challenge started in Northumberland with our charity shop in Aylesbury marking the finishing line. Andrew walked the entire route unsupported with a tent on his back, camping along the way. Find out more about his route on his JustGiving page. Andrew completed this huge fundraising challenge in just 31 days.

The challenge was in aid of our Befriending service, which alleviates loneliness for older people across Bucks by providing weekly visits from trained volunteers. Find out more about our Befriending service here.

Andrew has raised £2,000 so far which will pay for over 400 Befriending visits. That’s enough to send a Befriender to almost eight older people in bucks for an entire year! If you would like to find out more, or to donate – visit Andrew’s JustGiving page.

Andrew met with the news team over at MIX96 after his walk. Find out what they had to say here.

Knit for us!

The Big Knit campaign raises money for us locally. Age UK joined together with Innocent smoothies to raise money for winter warmer projects. Want to get involved? You can find all the information you need here, including loads of fun knitting patterns and stories from our local knitters!

Knitted Bunting Challenge

Earlier this year, we joined together with local business Knitz & Bitz to attempt to break the Guinness world record for the longest knitted bunting!

Unfortunately, Mary Berry and The National Trust pipped us to the post with their 'Knit for victory' campaign, and broke the record by a landslide. As we can not compete with the force of this national campaign, we are sadly no longer knitting triangles for this challenge. However, as originally planned the triangles will be made in to blankets and donated to Age UK Buckinghamshire as part of our winter warmth campaign.

If you have triangles and want to send them in to be made into blankets, please contact Christine. Christine will also need volunteers to help sew the triangles together into blankets.

Thank you for all your hard work on all our 2016 knitting projects!
