Pickpockets know that people may be carrying more cash than usual around this time of year, so follow these handy tips and make sure you don’t fall victim to crime:

•    Keep handbags zipped / locked shut and keep a firm hold on them. Pickpockets sometimes work together –    as one distracts a shopper another will steal the purse or bag.

•    Do not keep your pin number written down in your purse or handbag as this will give the thief easy access to your bank account.  Also, if possible do not keep documents with your address in the same place as your keys.

•    Never leave your handbag open or unattended in a shop or in a shopping trolley. It may be safest to leave your handbag locked in the boot of the car and just take cash or card to pay for your shopping.

•    Never leave valuables or bags on display in your car – lock them out of sight in the boot.

•    Avoid carrying large amounts of cash with you and be careful not to let others see what is in your purse or wallet as you pay for goods
