Are You an Unpaid Carer?
If you provide regular help or support to a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without your assistance due to illness, disability, mental health needs, addiction or frailty, you may be an unpaid carer.
Many people don't think of themselves as carers, they simply see themselves as a husband, wife, partner, parent, child, friend or neighbour. However, recognising your caring role can help you access valuable information, advice, practical support and services designed to support your own health and wellbeing.
Carers Support Programme
The Carers Support Fund, funded by the Welsh Government, helps unpaid carers who are experiencing financial hardship, particularly as a result of the rising cost of living and the lasting impact of the pandemic.
Through the Carers Support Programme, unpaid carers can access:
- Money management support and advice – Personalised one-to-one support to help maximise income, reduce household expenditure, improve financial wellbeing and build financial resilience.
- Information, signposting and referrals – Support to access local financial, health and wellbeing services, ensuring carers receive the help they need.
- Resources and awareness – Regular updates, information and factsheets to help carers stay informed about the support and services available to them.
