We're recruiting a Home Support Assistant in Newton Abbot

What the role involves

As a Home Support Assistant, you’ll offer the practical help and friendly companionship that can make all the difference to an older person’s day.

This isn’t a personal care role - instead, you’ll be supporting people with things like:

  • Light household tasks
  • Shopping or errands
  • Meal preparation
  • Keeping people company
  • Getting to appointments or local activities

You’ll be helping people stay independent, feel confident at home and stay connected to their community.

A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need formal care experience - just the right values and a willingness to help.

It’s great if you have:

  • Practical household skills (cleaning, shopping, simple meal prep)
  • A warm, friendly manner and good communication skills
  • Patience, empathy and the ability to build trust
  • Strong organisation and time-management
  • Confidence working independently (with plenty of support from us)
  • Previous experience supporting others - helpful, but absolutely not essential
