The Home from Hospital service relies on the hard work and dedication of it's volunteer team. Home from Hospital Volunteers provide practical one to one support to people recently discharged following a stay in hospital.
This support can range from simple tasks such as shopping for essentials to collecting prescriptions and putting on surgical stockings.
We do not specify a minimum number of hours that Home from Hospital Volunteers must complete. This role is designed to be flexible to fit around your current commitments. Some volunteers give a couple of days a week while others may only be able to give a couple of hours. We are happy to work with voluteers regardless of the number of hours they are able to give.
As a Home from Hospital Volunter you will be working out in the community, visiting vulnerable people in their homes. Due to the nature of this role we require all new volunteers to attend our full induction course which covers all the training you will need, including; Moving and Handling, Safeguarding, Confidentiality, and much more. This course usually runs over 4-5 full days. We realise that this induction amounts to more hours than volunteers are usually able to give on a regular basis, however all the training you receive is appropriate and relevant to the role you will be doing.
Our Commitment to you
We offer all our volunteers the same level of training and ongoing support. We will also cover all reasonable out of pocket expenses. For more information please visit our volunteering page.
