Cold Weather Warning

Published on 17 January 2023 09:41 AM

A Level 3 Cold Weather Alert has been issued today with a 90% probability of severe cold weather and icy conditions between 0900 on Monday 16 Jan and 0900 on Friday 20 Jan in parts of England, including London. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.

On the 17th January the Met Office issued a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert. This means that there is a high chance of severe winter weather conditions in London for the rest of the week.

Follow these tips to make sure you stay warm and safe this winter:

  • Stay tuned into the weather forecast
  • Try and heat your home to at least 18C and wear warm clothing inside
  • If you must go out dress warmly and wear non-slip shoes. Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. Keep your mobile phone on you and charged.
  • Dress warmly, eat warm food, take warm drinks regularly; keep active
  • Check on those you know are at risk
  • If you are concerned about your own health or that of others, alert emergency services
