No One Should Have No One To Turn To

Published on 20 November 2018 09:41 AM

At Christmas time our thoughts turn to those less fortunate than ourselves, particularly those without family or friends around them. It is also the time of year when we ask for your support in helping us combat the loneliness and isolation experienced by so many older people in Exeter, not just at Christmas but throughout the year. No-one should have no-one to turn to.

In Exeter over 7,000 older people live alone, and estimates show that around 2,000 older people in the city feel lonely most or all of the time. At Age UK Exeter we provide a whole raft of services that bring older people together to enjoy companionship and a sense of belonging. Our befriending services, social and activity groups, community café, dementia carer support and Men in Sheds projects help hundreds of people to connect with others and feel ‘visible’ again.

Your support in helping us reach our Christmas Appeal target of £10,000 will allow us to sustain these services in the coming year and reach even more people who need our support.
