Claire joined Age UK Exeter in May 2007 and remained with the charity until she retired in June 2020. She had many roles during the course of her employment; roles that were always people centred and which covered numerous aspects of the services provided by Age UK Exeter. Through her experience, she developed an excellent insight as to the needs of older people while working alongside colleagues as a team player. Post retirement she returned to the charity as a volunteer and continues to enjoy the contact with both service users and staff.

After finishing college Claire joined the Exeter County Court service within the Lord Chancellors Department until she left to have her family. While her children were young, Claire volunteered with the Homestart service which involved supporting families with children under the age of five. This came to an end when she joined Devon County Council Social Services department as a Referrals Co-ordinator for the Adult Social Care team. She quickly progressed to become a Community Care Worker within the same team until the left to join Age UK Exeter.
